Our image policy
Three rules govern every photograph on this site:
- Freely licensed or public domain only. No image is used without a licence that permits it.
- Attributed. Author, licence and a link to the source file are listed below for every image.
- Honest. We do not present a photograph of one place as another. If an image illustrates a general scene rather than the specific location named in the text, the caption says so.
Images are resized and recompressed for web delivery. No image has been altered in a way that changes what it depicts.
Reuse
Each photograph remains the property of its author and is governed by its own licence, not by this site's terms. If you want to reuse an image, follow the link to Wikimedia Commons and comply with the licence attached to that specific file. Share-alike licences (CC BY-SA) require you to license your derivative work on the same terms.
